BIHAĆ - When developing sustainable tourism in protected areas, it is important to care about the quality of services based on local, authentic experiences and knowledge, which preserve the cultural heritage, the traditional way of life and the traditional use of space. One of the conclusions set out in today's panel discussion on "Potentials and Risks of Tourism in Protected Areas",which was held in Bihać, Bosnia and Herzegovina, organized by the UNASANA Tourist Cluster.

The meeting was attended by representatives of competent ministries, protected area managers and representatives of the World Organization for Nature Protection WWF from BiH and Croatia. During the panel, successful examples of tourism development in protected areas from the region were presented, and the meeting ended with the signing of a cooperation agreement between neighboring tourist clusters - TK UNASANA and Lika Destination.

Once the UNASANA Cluster Cluster has successfully formalized cooperation with the cluster of Herzegovina, signing an agreement with the neighboring cluster of Lika is a great step for the development of sustainable tourism in this region "says Zrinka Delić, head of the WWF project "Protected Areas for Nature and People - Field project Una". The development of tourism in protected areas is a privilege and challenge, but also a great responsibility because the offer and visits of tourists need to be organized in a way that does not endanger natural values. Clustering in tourism is a trend that has long hovered Europe and has proven to be a successful model for strengthening local tourism and as a model for increasing market competitiveness. Today's panel, where we have learned numerous experiences from the neighboring Lika Destination cluster, is a great wind in the UNASANA Cluster Back ".

Destinations of UNASANA and Lika form a unique ring in Europe of even five national parks with extremely rich water resources, which is an additional reason for nature conservation but also for the promotion of a tourist destination. National parks Plitvice Lakes and Una have already signed a cooperation agreement on the protection of natural values, which further enhances the new cooperation of the two clusters.

Given that Cluster Lika Destination is already implementing a branding project as a destination for protected natural areas and gastronomic destinations, this experience will surely also be enjoyed by colleagues of TK UNASANA " convinced Petra Butković, manager of the Lika Destination cluster. Apart from the extraordinary richness of natural beauty, these destinations should be recognized by local gastronomic specialties as well as cultural and historical values and other specifics. This cooperation will only be of utmost importance if we jointly use the available European and other financial resources for the development and welfare of these two neighboring destinations. "

TK UNASANA was established within the framework of the implementation of the regional project "Protected Areas for Nature and People" (PA4NP) implemented by WWF Adria and funded by the Swedish Development Agency (Sida).
