SUCCESSFULLY COMPLETED PROJECT "YOUTH FOR SUSTAINABLE DEVELOPMENT OF LIKA"
On September 30, the closing conference marked the end of the implementation of the project "Youth for Sustainable Development of Lika".
The project started on July 2, 2019, and is funded by the Office for Associations of the Government of the Republic of Croatia within the Swiss-Croatian Cooperation Program through the call "Strengthening the contribution of civil society organizations to education for sustainable development to improve economic and social cohesion." The total value of the project is HRK 484,944.37.
The holder is the Lika Destination Cluster and the partners are the Dr. Jure Turić Elementary School from Gospić and the Plitvice Lakes High School from Korenica, whose students and employees were also beneficiaries of the project. In addition to these two schools, the partners are also two associations: the Society of Our Children of the City of Gospić and the Lika Ecological Action.
The aim of the project is to create awareness of the needs of sustainable development among children and youth, but also the wider local community.
During the implementation, teachers, employees and volunteers of partner organizations were educated, who then transferred the acquired knowledge to students through the implementation of innovative training programs. A total of 99 students were included.
The project activities are in line with the current work of the Lika Destination Cluster, which operates on the principles of sustainable development under the motto "Smart sustainable destination" branding the destination Lika, with emphasis on local products in the system "Lika Quality" and protected areas, including three national park.
Through this project, the children were taught the principles of sustainable development, the importance of preserving the environment, waste utilization and caring for the local community.
