At the Novi list conference "Green and digital transformation of tourism - an opportunity for Kvarner, Istria, Gorski Kotar and Lika" held at the Hilton Hotel on October 14, experts on the topic of sustainable tourism gathered. Along with the Director of the Main Office of the Croatian Tourist Board, Kristjan Staničić, the panel included Slavko Štefičar from the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, Bernard Zenzerović from the Association of Entrepreneurs in the Croatian Hotel Industry, prof. Ph.D. Marinela Krstinić Nižić from the Faculty of Tourism and Hospitality Management in Opatija, Sandra Anić from the Aestus Group, Petra Kovačević from the Lika Destination Cluster and Miroslav Pretula from the Degra company.
The emphasis of the conference was on the green and digital transformation of tourism, which is a prerequisite for a sustainable destination. As an example of a destination that bases its development on the principles of sustainability, the destination Lika was presented. Lika is included in the list of the world's TOP 100 sustainable green destinations and in the European Commission's Travel Guide, and all cluster activities are aimed at the balanced development of the entire destination, preservation of natural and cultural heritage and efficient use of resources, and cooperation with the local community.
The national strategic documents on which the future development of tourism in Croatia and green and digital transformation are based were presented. The reason for the conference was the announcement of two public calls by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports, through which HRK 2.2 billion in grants are made available to entrepreneurs in the tourism sector, and are open until February 2023.
