During the summer heat, it's time to visit the House of Velebit in Krasno

It seems that, exactly as expected, the trend of more intensive visits to the Northern Velebit National Park is successively continuing. By visitors who, in just a few days of staying at the coast, are already tired of frying in the sun and the unbearable crowds that already proverbially rule the sea coast. The setting of the House of Velebit in Krasno extends over four floors and includes several thematic units that intertwine and permeate each other in order to better show us the wealth of Velebit, its diversity and cultural and natural value.

At the center of the story is man and his direct and indirect influence on the nature and natural values ​​of this mythical mountain. In the past, the inhabitants of Velebit lived a nomadic way of life, they cleared the forest, grazed cattle, built stone dwellings - shepherds' dwellings and dry walls, and in this way created new habitats - lawns, puddles, etc., and influenced the number of plant and animal species.
In the House of Velebit, we will get to know a significant part of that diversity - various insects and birds, large animals, endemic plant species adapted to extreme living conditions.

The value of this mountain is not only in the abundance of plant, animal and mushroom species, but also in its landscape diversity. The reason for this is the numerous surface karst forms - dips, beams, hips and scrapes, are just some of them. But we will find out the story of how they were created in the House of Velebit!

What is most valuable is actually underground and inaccessible to most visitors. These are deep pits where a whole special world of specific fauna lives that had to adapt to life in constant darkness. And again, it is man who was constantly intrigued by the underworld, so he began to investigate in more detail the dark world that still fascinates us and surprises us with some newly discovered animal species.

The Velebit House hides and preserves numerous special features in one place, which we can never discover with ordinary tours of this national park.
