Lika Destination Cluster presented its work at a workshop of the Ministry of Tourism and Sports
The Lika Destination Cluster had the honor of participating in a workshop entitled "Strengthening Tourism's Resilience to Climate Change" organized by the Ministry of Tourism and Sports on October 16, 2024 at the Gacka Hotel in Ličko Lešće. At this significant event, the Lika Destination Cluster was recognized as a model example of successful destination development, which was further emphasized by the Cluster's selection to participate.
This year, the Cluster was included in the world's TOP 100 green destinations list for the third time in a row, and additional recognition was achieved by winning the Green Destinations bronze award, which distinguished Lika Destination as one of the leading examples of sustainable development. The Ministry of Tourism and Sports emphasized that they were extremely pleased that the Cluster responded to the invitation and that its work would contribute to future discussions on sustainable tourism.
The Cluster's contribution through a presentation on the Lika Quality system and how quality regional products can play a key role in climate change resilience was recognized as extremely valuable for all participants. Products bearing the Lika Quality Mark are a symbol of sustainability and local heritage, and the development of this system encourages not only economic growth but also the preservation of natural resources and the resilience of the region to climate change.
The workshop, which is being carried out as part of the Climate Change Adaptation Strategy of the Republic of Croatia, brought together experts from various tourism sectors, including representatives of tourist boards, national parks and local communities.
This cooperation with the Ministry of Tourism and Sports is a continuation of our efforts to promote sustainability, both through the Lika Quality system and through the overall development of the region that adapts to the challenges of the future. The workshop once again demonstrated the importance of joint action by local communities, tourism organizations and national institutions in creating resilient and sustainable tourism that preserves our natural and cultural heritage.
